2021 Model 3 door panels are inferior to <2021?

I was over at the Brent Cross (UK) Tesla this week, checking out some Model 3 with the family to get them to convert. I have s 2019 Model 3 Performance in the USA which has soft-touch materials on the entire door, front AND back, and I was surprised to see that the door panels in the 2021 (Made in China) are solid plastic on the lower portion. Is this true for the Made in America 2021 Model 3, too?

The American 2021's have soft touch door panels throughout but the lower sections are quite a bit more firm than the window sill. I expect the Chinese models are the same -- it's pretty hard around that bottom corner where you were tapping but it's still the same type of material as the window sill.
