Because of reports that Y's were getting stone chips back there from the front tires kicking up gravel.
Tesla sells a PPF kit for that area on the website and is a quick/easy DIY for under $50

Its was over $2k just to do the front and not worth it.

The ceramic coating was expensive too but worth it.
