2023 MYLR7 Accessories Early Thoughts

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Picked up my MYLR7 on New Year's Eve 2022 and have put a little over a thousand miles on it since then. In anticipation of delivery I had gone overboard on various basic accessories and now having lived with them for a couple months I thought I would share my experience so far.

Curious also if anyone has accessories that I haven't seen/heard of that they would highly recommend. Cheers!

Maxpider floor mats - Tesla Model Y Floor Mats by MAXpider (Fits 2020-2023)
Got full coverage, and I'm pleased with the fit and relatively low lip. The logos are small and don't bother too much. Bottom is velcro-like so the mats stay in place firmly.

Tesla trunk storage bins - https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-y-trunk-storage-bins
Got them even though website said my model was not compatible -- it worked out fine.

ThinSGO Matte screen protector - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product
Good enough, although application was a little tricky. Kind of wish I had gone with Spigen or AbstractOcean but not enough to change it out.

Ev3Designs rear vent covers - 2020-2023 Tesla Model Y Rear Vent Insert/cover set LR & - Etsy
Snapped in nicely, have a little bit of give but firm enough to prevent anything from rolling into the vent.

Basenor Jack pads - https://smile.amazon.com/BASENOR-Adapter-Storage-Protects-Battery/dp/B07YKK7LKH
Hope not to need these, but they are there in the frunk in case.

Basenor Mud flaps - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08VHQSXD1
Car didn't come with factory flaps, so I got these to reduce chipping on rear doors. Installation was simple, flaps mounted solidly with no damage to car. Ended up not installing rear flaps, as I prefer the clean look.

SanDisk microSD card reader - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G5JV2B5
Working as expected with a 256GB endurance SD card in there. Planning to upgrade to the abstract ocean hub to get a separate USB stick for music

Basenor under seat drawers - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0BHQ84D4M
Go under the front seats. Fit even with the all-season maxpider mats, although you have to remove the drawer at an angle. Mostly got these to prevent stuff from rolling under the seat.

Basenor door seal kit - RETURNED - https://smile.amazon.com/BASENOR-Tesla-Soundproof-Weather-Reduction/dp/B09XB564L7
Seals seemed reasonable, but adhesive seemed pretty inconsistently applied / bad. Installed RPM's kit instead, but that one is already having issues.

RPM door seal kit - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/m...ion-kit-24-with-20-off?variant=32384723025974
Questionable value, possibly tiny bit less wind noise. I separately got sound deadening so it helps absorb when the heavier doors get slammed. Had to apply additional double-sided tape around panel folds and corners. Adhesive started failing after a few days so had to do touch-ups. Holding up now so far, but if it starts to fall off more I may give up and remove it.

RPM Wind noise kit - RETURNED - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/m...ion-kit-24-with-20-off?variant=32384723025974
Didn't end up needing it, as my roof glass gaps are somewhat tight and I didn't want to push the factory seal down under the roof glass.

RPM Under Hood Rain Gutter Filters - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/c...-1-pair-19-with-20-off?variant=39610513686582
Requires pulling up frunk lining (clips), wasn't sure this was going to be useful but to my surprise I found leaves already in the space this filter would protect. Easier to clean out if the leaves are caught in the channel instead.

RPM Spoiler - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/m...-carbon-fiber-from-xxx?variant=39572671070262
Looks great / understated on black exterior. Got it for the theoretical efficiency gains at high speed, and so far have been pleased with my Wh/mi. Fit was a little bit tricky, especially due to PPF. Used adhesive promoter and it appears to be holding firm.

RPM Sunglasses mount - RETURNED - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/m...r-clip-on-for-the-roof?variant=40407589716022
Flimsy installation, and very little range of motion. Also blocks part of the camera such that you can't see the 3rd row.

RPM Sunglasses box - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/model-3-y-storage-with-velcro-attachement?variant=40367898984502
Put this in the driver footwell, seems to be OK. Still on the lookout for a more elegant solution.

RPM Backseat trash pouch - https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/draft-back-seat-trash-bin-with-battery-led?variant=40540726591542
Good enough. Hooks onto back pocket. Has bag clips so you can put in a plastic bag. Better than trash ending up in the pocket.

Abstract Ocean glow-in-the-dark handle covers - https://abstractocean.com/products/m3y-gid-handle-covers
To make it easier to find the door handles... also makes it easier to differentiate my car from the others that look just like it :)

Carwiner center console tray - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08SLXNF3Q
Fits nicely, slides back and forth to cover deeper center console area. Can be hidden entirely if pushed all the way forward.

Carwiner Door pocket inserts - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B097M8DLTY
These ones have a lip so any liquids will stay contained and won't soak the door fabric. Fit nice and tight. Back doors have a shallow factory liner (the emergency door unlock is under there) that I removed before installing.

Lusso Gear baby seat cover - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01MXQJWRA
Leaves an imprint on the seats, but better than the imprint of the child seat alone. Also protects a bit from spills. Keeping it on for now.

Boekey cup holder inserts - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B8QSSK34
Adds tighter fit for smaller cups, but may prevent extra large cups from fitting. Works for me and I like the spill protection.

KMMotors center console cover - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09SH5HFS4
Adds height and softness to the center console. Unfortunately, rubs against seats when you raise the center console. Plan to keep it since I don't raise the console often and I like the feel better.

Rightcar Silicone License Plate Holder - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07CV5PLFM
Great so far but only had it on a few days (plates just came)

ThinSGO Cup trashcan - RETURNED - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B085WMJ7GH
Would work alright in the center console, but too large to comfortably fit in the door (where I planned to keep it). Returned.

Meistar Cup trashcans - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B09PMKG1TX
Placed in the front door pockets. A tiny bit small / loose and so it rotates on it's own (quietly).

Slime Flat Tire repair kit - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MVFMYK9
Hope I don't end up needing this, and will attempt to plug before sliming to have a better chance at saving the tire.

Dynaplug tubeless repair kit - https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00DSCN3E2
Hope I don't need this, but it's there if I need it.

I'll make separate posts about sound deadening and tint/ppf, all of which turned out better than I expected.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up! Do you have the maxpider 2nd row seat back liners? If so are you liking those?

If you mean back of the middle row, then no I haven't tried those. Just have the trunk mat that also covers the 3rd row seats -- I'll place an order and follow up, as it did concern me that the 2nd row seat backs are exposed to cargo.

Nice same I just got the cargo mat and about the order the 2nd row seat back liner (middle row) it looks really good. See attached.

@BelugaWhale - Your setup looks really good. I have a MY 7 seater as well. Can u tell me where did you order the 2nd row back seat covers from? I cannot find Maxpider 2nd row back covers anywhere.

Also these come in 3 pieces, correct?
These are in fact 3 pieces. 2nd row seat back is same fit for 5 seater and 7 seater. Here is a link to them on Amazon below (not prime unfortunately). This photo I posted is from another 7 seat owner on reddit. I have all of these liners in my garage and I'm still patiently waiting for my MYLR7 I ordered on 1/14

And link to the 3d mats site below. You need to change the Type drop-down to 5 and 7 seat. Then you will see the seat back liner option.

@BelugaWhale - Thank you for the quick reply. Last question - it seems that there is no cutout for the center bar connecting the driver side and the middle 2nd-row seats. Wouldn't these force you to operate the seats in 60/40 mode only?

There is no cut out for that little bar but the liner can easily be peeled back and then patted back down into place after you fold the center seat down. The liner is super light weight and flexible. The maxpider tech makes it so you can do this often without worrying about a bunch of velcro fraying the carpet

I have also been looking at these for second row. I have 3 kiddos and need the latch access for the car seats. I emailed the company any they said the little raised areas are designed to be cut out for access to those areas if needed. They provided the following pic as reference.

It is same fit. Can buy from the 3d mats usa site
Thanks for the suggestion -- got this added and I think it looks great, matches the design of the others, and protects the seat backs from muddy stroller wheels and the like. I picked up the only variant (fits both 5 and 7 seats)

Thank you for the quick reply. Last question - it seems that there is no cutout for the center bar connecting the driver side and the middle 2nd-row seats. Wouldn't these force you to operate the seats in 60/40 mode only?
That's correct there is no cutout but as BelugaWhale noted you can move the cover aside to let the bar pass if you need to operate the center separately from the driver's side. This may be a little bit annoying if you do it often, so you could consider making your own cutout.

Thanks for sharing the pic, it makes sense once I need access to the latches I'll make the cuts. Unfortunately that would somewhat reduce the coverage, especially if the seats are folded flat. I'll wait until needed.

Updating to add that unfortunately driver's side clip fell out and was lost last week, causing the mudflap to be loose. I inserted a spare (from the not installed rear set) and used some double-sided tape to help reduce the odds of it falling out. Reached out to Basenor and they offered to send replacement clips but are out of stock -- hope they follow through.

Also got a few new pieces:
3/16 ID (5/16 OD) tube for trunk seal - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SPSRJL4 (and Silicone spray for install https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AF0ODGM)
Fantastic mod from ilovecoffee Ear pain/Pressure help along with re-setting hatch stops greatly reduced boominess on rough surfaces (incremental to noise dampening trunk). Tried 3/8 OD as well but went back to 5/16 OD, very pleased.

JOWUA USB Hub/SD reader - 3 Port USB HUB with DashCam Reader for Tesla Model 3 / Y
Flimsier/lighter than I expected, and at the same time bulkier. Still ended up installing it so that I can use the SD card for sentry and USB key for music. Still feels like this area hasn't completely been addressed elegantly.

JOWUA center console tray - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095YL61NT
To replace the Basenor one, which wasn't bad but was too deep and required the full length of the center console opening to insert/remove. I intend to mount a permanent accessory into the console and so needed something shallower, that I could also modify to make it possible to insert/remove at an angle. This JOWUA tray was perfect, as I was able to make the needed cuts to the hard plastic shell and then insert the silicone inner liner, leaving the container intact. Exactly met my needs.

TSLAUCAY Side camera covers - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BH3Y3CQY
I was really enjoying the subtle glossy carbon fiber accent of the spoiler and couldn't help myself getting these as well -- very thin/lightweight, simple to install, came with adhesive promoter. Quite pleased, even if this was a silly splurge.
