Given Michelin tires are stretched onto the 9.5” wide rims in the OE 255/45 size, I thought about going to 285/40’s which keep similar diameter but increase width about 1”. Anyone try this? I think 275 would be better but 285 opens up door for some pilot sport ties including the new Pilot Sport 5’s which have a “30k warranty” and uses the PS2 rubber compounds.

Thoughts or feedback to this? Does adding 0.5-0.7” of width on the inside pose any possible rubbing/interference issues?

yeah I was worried you might say that😅 but I also realized that's a very limited Tire selection in this size... well in Denmark at least don't know how it is in America... so I'm probably just going to go 275/40

I also noticed the noise rating seem to be noticeably higher on 285 opposed to 275

I have 285/40 in the rear on stock Gemini’s without issues.
I bought 285/40 for the front but have not put them in yet. From my research, the following fit the front
275/45 +45 (people with stock wheels have done this)
285/35 +35 (aftermarket wheels)
285 & 295 on 20” Redwood Motorsports

The stock 19s are +45 and should not have any issues with 285s but I bought 5mm spacers just in case. there is about 1” of tire clearance with the 255s to the control arm.
