I agree; however, my car isn't even close to my tires' load rating. My OEM tires have a load rating of 1984 lbs (7396 lbs for four).

My MY, even at max GVWR, weighs only 5302 lbs.

Just to reiterate... I'm not telling anyone to lower their tire pressure. I'm simply explaining why I choose to.

I vividly recall the Firestone/Ford mess 21 years ago about the Explorers rolling over with the door sticker 26 PSI tire pressure. I understand that manufacturer takes a lot of factors into account when setting tire pressure. I suspect getting a higher EPA mileage rating was weighted more heavily than comfort.
