    2024.3.10; Any Feedbackss

I'm on 2023.44.30.25, which has FSD 12.3. It is way better than any other version I've had since I got FSD in 2020. It handles toll booths, traffic circles, etc. It did scrape a curb in the first 500 feet I drove with it. Fortunately, it was a rounded asphalt one, so no wheel damage. I'll...

    Turning radius

I guess it depends on what you're used to. My F450 truck has the tight turning circle of 50.4', which is one of the reasons I got it. The similar F350 has a turning circle of 59.6'. Those 9 feet are very noticeable when maneuvering a trailer. Not surprisingly, my MY feels quite nimble to me.

    Most efficientbsetting for heat pump?

Here is some data to further the conversation. I did a quick test with Scanmytesla this morning. Quick summary: Medium Fan speed is best. Probably should just use "auto." Theory: Air is made hotter at low fan speeds to meet temp setpoint, so setting the fan too low is inefficient. I tested...

Has anyone with the old windshield washer system changed to the new one?

I had issues with my 2020 spray nozzles until I learned that they can be aimed. Simply put a needle in the hole and use the leverage to move the nozzle to spray in front of the wiper. They are designed to be adjusted this way. I had to fiddle with the aim position to get good performance, but it...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I've experienced that weird subsonic unhappy feeling when not moving when my vents were blowing across my screen in just the wrong way. Maybe this is your issue. Just adjust the vents to see. For me, there is a narrow range of fan speed and vent direction that causes this.

Ugh... Turkey "juices" in the trunk

If you spill something that soaks the trunk bucket liner, you need to remove the liner and clean under the hard foam board beneath it. Otherwise you still have the liquid trapped down there. I used dish soap, and a hose to thoroughly wash liner after removing it (the water runs through it) and a...

If you want to know how they align, just put soapy water on the rubber stop and observe the water circle when you open. (Soap is needed to stop the water from beading on the hydrophobic rubber stopper.)

Tire Valve Leaks Air when caps are off

Yes. It just slips inside the valve stem and the slot engages the core. You just snug it down - not too much torque. Please report back to the group on your results.

Tire Valve Leaks Air when caps are off

Valve core is loose, broken, or has dirt in it. Step 1. Push the pin in to expel some air and see if the leak goes away. Step 2. Get a valve stem tool (auto or bike store and tighten core. Step 3. Replace core.

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

I use a GPS app on my phone to determine the speedometer accuracy. I use the Scanmytesla app with an OBD-II Bluetooth dongle spliced in my cable behind the arm rest to measure my 0-60.
  14. M

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

Aaah. The speedo related to the 0-60 time... From 1.5% high to 1.5% low =~3% difference. My scanmytesla records 0-60 using the speed the car thinks it's going. With AB, my 0-60 on OEM tires reports ~4.2 seconds. This was really 0-59. With the taller tires, it reports ~4.7 seconds. That's really...

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

At 22,700 miles, I replaced my OEM with upsized (255/50r19) Quatrac Pros. I had 4/32" when I replaced the OEM. I would have gone a little longer, but snow season was starting. I now have 35,500 miles on my Quatrac Pros, and they look like they'll make it to 50,000. Pros: Quieter, more...

10% better range by servicing brakes

I pay attention to my wh/mi every commute. For a few weeks before I serviced my brakes, I averaged ~260-270 wh/mi round trip. Here is my last commute round trip: 234 wh/mi. I had a few round trip commutes like this one with ~15% lower consumption last week. I'll measure again this week and...

10% better range by servicing brakes

No pins, but, there is a piece of spring steel that pulls the pads back. I used this video for instructions. I wouldn't hang a caliper from the brake line like he did. I just have a jack, so my car was close enough to the ground to just set the caliper down. No other special tools needed. One...

10% better range by servicing brakes

In the fall of 2022, I attempted to service my brakes (clean and grease). I was able to do the rear brakes, but didn't do the front. It appears that my early 2020 AWD MY has performance brakes up front (although grey), and these require an E18 socket that I didn't have. Anyway, it seemed like...

Irresponsible thoughts of upgrading my Y to an S

I have a 2020 MY AWD and 2022 M3. I sat in a Model S at the showroom last week really wanting to like it. I like my MY so much more. At 6' tall, the MS roofline was too low. I had to set the seat very low to get a good view from the windshield. The low seat isn't nearly as comfortable of a...

Thinking of a Model Y after 5 years with Model 3

I have an early 2020 MY AWD and a 2022 M3 (RWD LFP battery). Here is some data for you: 1. 2022 M3 (RWD) EPA range: 272 2. 2020 MY AWD EPA range: 326 (bumped from 316 with a SW update) 3. I lost ~7% range on my MY when switching to larger Quatrac Pro tires 4. MY has ~10% battery degradation 4...

FSD Owners - Do any of you prefer leaving it off?

I leave mine on. It was $7k in 2020. I like the features from EAP (exit, lane change). Merge is OK, city driving is like a young teen driver.

Model Y RWD Charging to 100%

That's a good point. I stopped worrying about my battery health with my MY NCA battery after realizing the BMS doesn't accurately measure degradation on it. It's even harder for the LFP BMS. For more details on my NCA thoughts, see: Reducing degradation stress - a tale of three batteries.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

1.5 years and 17,100 miles on my 2022 M3 LFP. 262 miles at 100%. Hasn't budged in almost 9 months. Charge is always set to 100%, and it gets charged once or twice a week. Very happy with the LFP. Both this car and my 2020 MY AWD can go about 250-260 miles on a full charge.

Anyone use this Romex 6/3 cable during install?

40A Breakers Get Hot When Charging

Amazon has the Hubbell for only $88.99 right now. From the pic of your box in your first post, you should double check that the right faceplate is available for your box. The Leviton is 2.15" diameter and the Hubbell is about 2.5" (2 31/64"). I hope that everything works out for your project.
  46. M

40A Breakers Get Hot When Charging

When I swapped mine, I had to get a new face plate because the diameter of the Hubbell is larger. The issue isn't box depth, rather it's the size of the hole in the face plate.

    6 Weeks & 7,000 Miles - Thoughts from a penny pincher (2023 MYLR)

It seemed odd that hybrids get better highway mileage than traditional ICE before I did more research. The reason for some (maybe all) is they use a modified atkinson cycle engine. It's more efficient, but not as powerful. Hybrids get away with this because the electric fills the power gap...
