My bad for resurrecting such an old thread but I think this is good info here.
I've replaced my own 48amp charger with another 48amp charger. It worked great with a simple firmware update that I had pre-staged.
Up until my local movie theater uninstalled their free 72amp EVSEs, I was considering trying the 72amp replacement. 2.5 hour movie gets you 37kwh. I probably won't try it now, but if my 2 year old charger craps out anytime soon, I might consider it just for giggles. Still cheaper than the $3k Tesla wants for a remanufactured unit.
The part #s are so close together, but I'm going to assume you need Tesla Toolbox to make the config change still...
