Spoke with Tesla yesterday and they said that my vehicle has been built but due to the extremely high demand of the Mid-range with white interior, there is a backlog of assigning VINs. They did tell me that since vehicle is built it should be a matter of days to get VIN assignment and contact from a delivery specialist.

That is encouraging!

I wonder if I waited in line with any of you? Remember the shenanigans with the line and the random guy with tickets?

Hi all,

One of the appeals of buying before year end 2018 was to get the much cheaper 5 year Arizona registration for EV cars (I believe less than $200 for 5 year registration vs. normal $500 annual registration cost for a similar priced car). I believe a bill was passed this year that ends this significant EV registration discount starting in Jan 2019.

Does anyone know how Tesla handles delivery/registration? If we pay cash will we be given title at delivery so we can go to DMV ourselves and register? My concern is that if the cars are delivered late December and then we have to wait for Tesla to coordinate registration it could easily land in 2019 and we miss the cheap 5 year registration - amounting to a $2K or so hit over the next 5 years. Thoughts?

Thanks for the head up.

I would use the Scottsdale Service Center to help you. Had issues with getting both Model 3's registered in Tempe. Scottsdale did it in an hour.

Thanks for the heads up on the Scottsdale Service Center. Was near Kierland today and figured I'd swing by and ask the staff there but no one was familiar with the 2019 increased registration cost and suggested I contact the Tempe Delivery Center. The guy I spoke with on the phone at Tempe Delivery wasn't familiar and said he asked around the center but they didn't have a definitive answer. Will be curious to see how it plays out with year-end delivery.
