Audio skip sometimes switches audio source instead

On 2023.20.9 (2020 Model 3 LR) when streaming Bluetooth, occasionally the skip forward/back steering wheel clicks will instead switch to FM or streaming.

This is disruptive and confusing. It seems random, e.g. not correlated to double-clicking.

Anyone else encountered this bug? Any workaround?

While probably not ideal you can switch those sources off if you normally don't use them. You need to have a minimum of 3 selected. I use Apple Music and was having a problem with it switching to Slacker (Streaming) so I cut if off and the problem went away.

Happened to me once and I realized I side click and hold just a little too long. Quick side click = FF, click + hold = switch source.

Aha! That's it!

Notes:

• This is not in the Owner's Manual, Model 3 Owner's Manual | Tesla
• It'll switch to Streaming, TuneIn, or Radio but not to Bluetooth or USB. (Why not, Tesla? Those are my main sources.)
• When it switches, it doesn't update the audio window on the screen.
