Bluetooth phone issue - call in progress

Anyone experience the issue where you are talking on your phone while entering your car and the speaker picks up but not the microphone? I can hear the other caller on the car speakers, but they cannot hear me at all. Neither the car mic or the phone mic work as if on mute.

Using Samsung S8. Also have smartwatch if that could cause any conflict

Answering my own question...adjusting the phone volume via the steering wheel control seems to restore operation. There was a another thread with a slightly different issue that suggested the same fix so I thought I would try that.
