Can I own, operate a Tesla in USA on a tourist visa?

Hi guys,


I am not a US citizen, but would visit US on a regular basis and have a residence there. For a few years, I had been dying to get a Tesla while I am there for a few months, but because I am on a tourist visa, I am not sure if I am able to own one under my name.

I had been researching online, it does say I have to have a valid US driver’s license to register the car, is that true?

Any advice or other solutions as to how to own a Tesla for someone under a tourist visa?

If you have a valid drivers license and insurance you should be able to buy a car.

In California it shouldn't be a problem getting it, as they will give licences to those that are here illegally.
