Climate control from app turns on rear defrost

Just got a new 2023 model YP. When I use the app to turn on the climate to a given temp the rear defrost also turns on. Is this normal, it was 50 degrees outside if that matters.

Mine does the same. Seems like normal behavior.

The rear window heat grid acts as a defogger/defroster. When the Climate Control detects higher than normal humidity inside the passenger cabin it can defog the windshield, also the rear hatch glass. This will also defog/defrost the side mirrors.
