Climate on on continuously

I got a notice that my climate control had been on for a long time. I went out to the garage and heard the fan on high and it was cold around the car. I sat in the driver's seat and it was cold in the cabin. However, the temperature settings for both driver and passenger were 72 as usual. I turned off climate control completely and that shut it down. But I don't know what will happen tomorrow morning when I turn it back on. Any ideas or suggestions?

If you’ve just parked after driving with AC the car will run the fan for a good while to try to dry the vents and prevent the mildew smell.

Yes, that is true. But this was different. It was running continuosly for several hours, and it was quite cold in the car and around it.
