Color change - how much does this affect order status?

Hi all. I currently have a black MY/black interior, FSD, 19", AWD on order, but lately I am considering switching to the MSM color. Has anyone changed their color and have any experience on whether this has affected their order status (delayed, made sooner (!))? Thank you and stay safe out there. =)

I know this is not a great answer, but it could speed you up, slow you down or not change much at all.

I've learned that they can only sell what comes off the line and a match with what comes off the line takes priority over anything else.

Thank you for your reply, and I think the answer is fair considering it's Tesla. I went ahead and made the change to MSM - here's to hoping I didn't extend my delivery too long!

Update: I ordered my MY 1/2020, changed from black to MSM yesterday 5/19/2020, and immediately found a VIN series 005XXX in my source code today. Perhaps the 8-12 week delivery estimate is legit? Either way - excitement!!!
I just tried to do the same change from Black to MSM on the same configuration. Was told it would reprice my car (I ordered March 2019), so I left it alone. Was told on Chat that they are trying to get existing orders delivered in June.

Weird, the agent I spoke with via chat indicated b/c the cost was the same, it wouldn't affect my price, and it didn't according to the MVPA. I would just try to get a different person on chat, or request a delivery specialist.

It also might not have affected my price because I ordered Jan 2020. IIRC, there were price discrepancies between orders in early 2019 vs late 2019/early 2020.

Looks like they’re producing models with the 19” Gemini wheels now. I have an order for a pearl white LR AWD black interior with 20” induction wheels that I’m still waiting on. Placed my order in February of this year and still on the “drafting up contract” phase

Yes, my pricing is substantially lower than current and changing configuration will cost me a lot. Therefore, not doing it.

I just changed from the blue to white. Sadly the blue is much darker in person than on the website. I guess a Wrap is in my future. The rep told me that Tesla builds in batches and they don't know what batches are scheduled. So it could speed up or slow down delivery. it just depends on when your configuration is scheduled.

I never trust color representation on a computer monitor, as the result can vary greatly depending on the monitor. Luckily, I live in an area with lots of Model 3s, so I used that as a guide. I ended up with white - in person, the pearl white just gleams and is gorgeous! I never thought I'd ever buy a white car.

BTW, I've seen owner pictures of the white Model Y. Similar to the Model 3, that color really shows off the lines. It makes the Model Y look like a futuristic tear drop, very cool. I would have ordered white (went for blue), but having two white Teslas was a bit much. Plus, if one of us says "I'm taking the white car" it would be confusing. :)

I have an Estoril Blue BMW 2 series. I was hoping the colors would be closer. I really like the Red, but if I paid 2k additional for anything less than a flawless paint job, I would be furious. I'm sure I will end up with a wrap on it. I agree that the pearl white looks elegant and I am sure my wife will love it, but I prefer a little edge and attention grabbing with my car. Either way I am super excited to see how the acceleration feels. My car is about 4.1 sec 0-60...let's see what 3.5 sec feels like with no shifting.
