Do folks remove their hidden hitch once the snow flies?

I installed the removable eco hitch a few years ago and have been taking it off every winter when my snow tires are installed. I left it on this month as I wanted to use my 1up bike rack for a few more rides and needed the hitch. Now I am thinking why not just leave it on all year round? Any down side to this, other then snow possibly going up into the area around it where it is attached to the frame?

Last winter was the first for my Eco hitch and I removed the receiver and replaced the cover. I also use it for a bike rack but don’t ride in the colder weather and thought the open hole would collect slush and dirt. The snows are on but I have yet to remove the receiver this year - later this week!

Exposure to the elements can lead to corrosion issues. Other than that it shouldn’t be a problem
