I just posted these pics in another thread and thought they might be a great thing for everyone else to see as well.
The owner of this Porsche purchased it "used" and one of it's selling points was that it already had clear bra on it. We removed the old clear bra, looked at it, and realized what had happened. The damage was not ignore-able. Who ever installed this computer cut pattern did not to a very good job lining up the edges of the film to butt up against each other. This allowed a small gap between the pieces of PPF. After a few years of driving, the paint in between the clear bra parts looks like it was sand blasted!
Having a skilled installer is key to protecting your paint. Inspect the car CLOSELY when you pick it up from the shop. If something doesn't look right, point it out! You're paying thousands of dollars for their professional installation. The best result for clear bra is to have the least amount of seams and relief cuts. Model 3s can be completely wrapped without ANY cuts or seams, including the front and rear bumpers. If you don't mind the seams, make sure you ask about them and inspect the finished result.
Our shop only does custom/bulk installations. Some shops might primarily do the pattern installs but are willing to do the custom installs if you are willing to pay a premium. Pattern cut installs are not bad or unprofessional when installed correctly, as long as you understand what to expect.
