Drag Racing at Luskville

Had an opportunity pop up to go drag racing at Luskville with some people from the local club. The Model S did quite well, with 1/4 mile times in the 12.7 range. As soon as I did my first run a guy came out and told me I was too fast and had to run with a helmet. Fortunately I had stowed one in the Frunk just in case.

Here are some pics and video.

The heat and humidity wasn't helpful for the ICE cars. I did a number of runs against a very fast Saleen Mustang. The two cars were fairly evenly matched, although under the conditions I always got the faster time (although a couple of times due to reaction time he got to the finish line just ahead of me). There was a Porsche Turbo there that I didn't get a chance to run against; he was running in the 12.2's.

Interestingly each run was slightly slower than the previous one... not sure why.

Thanks for sharing. How much range did you have to start and how much after your last run? I have read where the best times achieved are when the battery is at full charge and decline as range goes down.

I arrived with about 85% charge and left with about 65% charge. So yeah it probably was the battery voltage dropping slightly.

Standard S right? I got 12.645 with my P but you were slipping through the beginning similar to how it is when I ran so without stickier tires I think that's it on a slippery drag strip.

It's a P85.

Luskville is a very well-worn facility; the track is in pretty rough shape. I was getting a fair bit of wheel spin. Also it's a bit of a drive from home so I wasn't at 100% battery either.

ok.
I only ran 2 slips and 1 was a 12.64 the other 12.7 but I am spinning up to just above 45 mph or so too.

Do they have any on-site EV charging facilities? And if not, do you think they might be open to considering the installation of evChargers?

No, there are no chargers on site. The place is pretty rustic; I think everything they have there was installed 30 years ago. I wouldn't hold my breath!

If you want to run there, you can charge up in Ottawa (drop by our office!) or at the Hull Casino.
