Driver door opening differences

When I press on the driver door handle, sometimes the door fully opens, sometimes it opens a few inches. i am not standing nor blocking the door. Is this normal or a flaw in the opening mechanism?

This is NOT the autopresent feature, only when i press the door handle

I have the same issue. Not sure the differences. I think if I am standing more in front of the FaWD then the front door more consistently opens farther. I think the front door does no have its own sensors but relies on the information from the FaWD. Only heard that on TMC and not from a tesla person. Since the last update I am often using my fob to open my door now.

Don't forget the sensors for available width are in the rear FWD, not in the front door. This trips a lot of people up, because they think "I'm not blocking the front door, what did it barely open?" when standing right next to the rear door where the sensor is.
