Estimated delivery date and VIN#

My estimated delivery date is less than a month away however there is no VIN assigned yet. Does anyone know how close to the delivery date can a VIN be asigned? Thanks.

My Vin was assigned the week the vehicle was being assembled. Then it takes 10 days to two weeks to get to you in NY after assembly, assuming there are drivers and trains running OK. Also, the shortage issue could delay delivery if it has to sit after being assembled due to some of the new parts shortages. Generally, they won't build it until they have the parts.
