Needless to say there's a lot of attention these days to ceramic coating and film wrapping of new cars. Lots of impressive pictures and testimonials outlining the benefits of both of these technologies, but the cost is impressive too. While ceramic coating will not protect from stone impacts (too much kinetic energy), it does appear to significantly limit the damage done by lower level 'sandblasting' as you drive down the highway, with Mohs hardness values quoted consistently at 8-9. This treatment may thus have the ability to prevent some types of long-term damage from some kinds of driving and road-related impacts. Also appears to offer significantly better protection against acid rain, bug impacts, bird droppings, etc.

We have just purchased an aftermarket ceramic coating kit that was not cheap, but it's a lot less than the $1300-$1500 charged in my area by local shops. Will post before and after pictures, but I'm curious about other people's experience with this interesting option.

Constructive criticism, feedback, and documentation welcomed. Trolling . . .not so much.
