Second post of the thread was a post from someone not interested in buying the car publicly questioning the seller's listing price. This specifically violates the rules of this forum and is just plain rude. My post was an attempt to bring light to the fact that questioning someone's list price on their car was a sure fire way to make others question it thus lowering the resale price of your car, ultimately. These are fairly easy dots to connect. You should be hoping he sells his car for list price or more to help the resale value of your car down the road. It may not seem like much but these individual sales make up the used car market as a whole eventually.
Members of this community need to learn to be more courteous to other members, specifically in the marketplace. It's not the place for chit chat and it certainly isn't the place to publicly question someone's selling price. If someone wants to start a thread discussing the current state of pricing on the used market they can do it elsewhere.
If you felt my posts were rude you clearly haven't followed all of the off-topic posts a few inconsiderate members have been posting all over the marketplace over the last year or so. It was getting worse but recent staff moderation leads me to believe we're about to see things change for the positive and the marketplace become a more inviting place for ALL members.
Previously a few selfish members were being allowed to bully people into pricing cars where THEY thought should be priced lower. Of course they often times left out the fact that they themselves were trying to buy $50k cars for half of market value. So of course it benefited them to continue bashing the used car market in the name of "protecting the buyer" which was just a load of self-serving BS. This was previously going unchecked and created a very toxic environment that was running newer members off of the forum entirely, sadly.
This community can be a great place if we all learn to be a little more civil to each other and I'm glad to see the staff getting more involved with this aspect. We shouldn't let a few bad apples ruin the whole batch.
