Faulty door latch?

Hey guys,

We’ve got a minor problem with our 09/2020 MYP with 24k miles.

The left rear door open/closed sensor in the door latch appears to be malfunctioning. When you open the door the window rolls down like you’d expect but if you release the handle after you clear the door trim the window rolls back up to fully closed. If you pull on the handle again the window lowers back down. Also the door open animation does not change, it always shows to be closed.

Probably a simple part swap, something that hopefully, mobile service will be able to take care of.

Has this happened to anyone else?

This is the outside door handle? Does the same behavior happen using the door release button from inside?

The outside door handle doesn't mechanically open the door. It uses a sensor to tell the car that someone pulled the handle so the car unlatches the door. Maybe something is wrong with the sensor.

Yes, the outside door handle is just a switch that tells the door latch to release, but apparently also is what tells the window to roll down slightly to allow it to clear the trim. The door latch also has a sensor that tells the car to keep the window in the lower position when open. I believe this latch sensor is defective.
