I have a Tesla Model 3 steering rack, part number 1044831-99-D that exhibited the following error codes/alerts:

APP_w009 Automatic Emergency Braking Disabled
DI_a223 Traction Control Disabled
GTW_w074 Steering Assist Reduced
UI_a020 Steering Assist Reduced
DI_a222 Stability Control Disabled

Tesla determined that there was some sort of issue with the control board or steering assist motor on the steering rack and replaced it. Tesla did not want to troubleshoot the individual components of the steering rack, they would only replace the entire rack.

I have this rack available for sale for anyone who wants to attempt to troubleshoot it and use it. Since the problem is with the electronics or the motor and there is no physical damage to the rack, it may be a less expensive way to repair a vehicle that has been in an accident and has a physically damaged rack but has good electronics and motor.

This item is sold "AS IS" with no warranty or guarantee. What you will receive is exactly what is in the picture. No refunds, exchanges, or returns. This rack had 36,629 miles of use before it was replaced. Please note that the shipping box shows the part number as 1044831-00-H, this was the part number of the replacement rack that went in my car. The rack that is for sale, and the one you will receive, is an older revision as shown in the pictures, it is part number 1044831-99-D. It is buyer's responsibility to make sure that they can make use of the older revision and that it is applicable to the car you intend to install it in.

New unit is over $2000. Selling this unit for $500 + shipping, or best offer + shipping.

I had something similar happen 4 times in 1600 miles of driving my new Tesla MS. I also lost regenerative braking and auto hold. Seems strange that a steering rack issue could disable so many things. After sitting overnight, the alerts and regen-braking problems went away.
