Why have I suddenly started getting this error when I go to format a USB drive on a 982 GB USB flash drive that had always worked fine before??? Any thoughts appreciated. Am on V11.0 software version - 2017 model S. Thanks.
Likely the drive has died. Most (all?) stick-style drives are not rated for automotive use and can fail. Here is my list of drives and temperature ranges they support. SD Drives seem to be the best, and I've not had one fail yet. Recommended Drives for the Tesla Dashcam – TeslaTap
To add to that, flash drives have a limited life. The more you write, the sooner they die. Usually the cheaper the drive the fewer cycles they handle. Some of the really cheap no-name drives might only last a few hundred cycles. Here's a bit more on it: Dashcam Memory Longevity – TeslaTap
