My wife let me drive my new model3 today.
It was my first time driving it myself, I let my wife
drive the rental, so I bought it on my wife's suggestion.
I have driven some very fast cars but I think this is the fastest.
On the city streets my wife constantly yelled at me to slow down.
From ramp to 100mph just breath taking, heads pinned back like a
ride at 6 flags. 70mph to 100+ in a heartbeat. At 100mph+ even very
heavy cars tend to lift, get very unstable, still fun, the model 3 was more
sticky.
My wife will not let me get a performance version.

Congratulations on your Tesla Model 3!

I am sorry to rain on your parade, but my experience with the Tesla Model 3 is that it is exactly - and only - on the unique, German Autobahn that its driving experience is _not_ superior to the terribly polluting 20th century diesel technology.

Yes, up to about 160 km/h the Model 3 is very good - faster than that, not so much. But let's be fair, it is rarely necessary, nor safe to drive faster than that - and it is also highly uneconomical to do so.

Why do you think it is even legal to drive faster than 130 km/h in Germany? If you didn't know, it's because that gives people a reason to buy a car that can drive twice as fast. And do you know who has excelled at building such cars for decades? The German car industry.

So that is basically the only reason why there still exists public roads, where one can legally drive much faster than 130 km/h.

Btw, if you floor it in a Tesla Model3, the consumption goes above - and stays above - 600 Wh/km, which is the upper limit in the 'Consumption' graph.

PS. For comparison, here is a very boring video that shows how non-fast it feels to drive with cruise control set to 240 km/h in a old fashioned German car made for the Autobahn:

Btw, the Autobahn is where this car ended its days, in a high-speed crash...

I think its the smile factor. I went out to get some Mexican stuff.
I overshot the place by about 60 miles, still smiling the whole way.
Never had a AWD car very strange feeling but cool. Lots of pedal at
100mph and smokes almost all german cars. I had to wait for a lumbering
AMG "S class" to get out of my way. Very fun car !!
