How does getting your plates work (ideally in Canada)?

Will be picking up from Toronto when I finally get the call but just curious how plates work. I've seen lots of people on here in the US posting that they got a call basically saying your car is ready in 2 days kinda deal. When I've bought my BMWs before they do all the plates and order it from the ministry and do all of that. When the delivery specialist calls you do they take care of doing all of that? Just want to ensure I of course get the green plates as otherwise I want to do a vanity plate if they are just giving me a non-green one since the green ones don't support vanity plates yet.

Typically with vanity plates, you have to get those yourself. I'm also in Toronto and I've never heard of a dealer doing that.

Now, I currently have a vanity plates and I plan to transfer it. Not sure how that's gonna go but I figure I'll make that clear to my ISA and see how that goes. I'm sure they'll botch something up with that though..

Might be worth just letting them get the plate and apply for a vanity afterwards ?
