HW2.0 to HW3 upgrade components

Been noticing on every Model S I've worked on that originally had HW2.0 and got the HW3 upgrade from Tesla, that the front radar has not been checnged. HW2.5 and HW3 cars have the Continental long range radar with a secondary CAN connection for redundancy. Earlier HW1 and HW2.0 cars had the Bosch radar with only a single CAN connection. I've noticed at least three cars that received the upgrade to HW3 from Tesla still have the Bosch radar and that isn't upgraded or retrofitted to Conti. I would assume its because the Conti needs two additional wires to be added in the harness to the AP computer and that would take too long. So my question is can anyone confirm this Conti radar is not needed and that Tesla has made changes to the firmware to allow for the Bosch sensor to work, I guess so and I'm probably answering my own question.
