If a MCU is 'Factory Reset' and has been rooted will it lose root?

Thank you! Now I'm unsure if it will be beneficial or cost me time having to put everything back the way I want it

Factory reset does what it says, it returns the car to the state it was before you took delivery, all of your settings will be lost. This is what should be done before turning over your car to a new owner.
When you say root, if you are referring to the ability to gain access to the OS, this should still be available. But again, anything you did before the factory reset will be lost.
