Is it good idea to sound deaden the liftgate portion?

Worried that extra weight of sound deadening material will damage the liftgate lifting motor in the long run…

Has anyone done one?

People here recommend against it because the motor was straining to open the hatch afterward. I had the same experience. Motor didn't actually fail but that doesn't mean it's not going to fail in a year.

Applying sound deadening to the hatch also doesn't solve booming so there's no point in doing it.
