Is there any way to step the voltage from the cigarette lighter down from 15v?

Hello, new owner here.

Is there any way to step the voltage from the cigarette lighter down? I am trying to plug in a small power inverted to get an outlet in my car.

I keep getting an overvoltage error from the device and when I check it shows an input of 15.4 V.

Is there any way I can use this port or is it just unusable now?

You'll need an inverter that supports up to 16V...
