Key Fob responsiveness

A metal cover on a fob is a bad idea. Radio waves do not go through metal, they are absorbed by it.

That makes sense, and I just realized I have a plastic case with a very shiny metallic finish, and remembering that metallic wraps kill the front radar, I now wonder if my finish is hurting the RF of my key (I get "key not in car" and non-presenting handles sometimes). I'll try it for a while outside the case to see if it works better. Thanks for the idea.
