@MrFusion Darn it! There I go again. I was again beginning to feel extra special only to find out it's a mass mailing.

However I think that the moral of this story is as follows: IF YOU WANT A TESLA DON'T BOTHER ORDERING UNTIL YOU ARE WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF THE END OF QUARTER. Can you imagine what the December run will look like? This is beginning to look like a pattern.

My only concern and hope is that none of these cars are being made in an end of quarter tent. Mr. Musk, fit and finish is much more important than pleasing wall street.

Not sure what the usual order of texts is but just as a data point I ordered on 9/12/19 and just got a text today (9/16/19) saying my car "will be exiting the factory and heading" my way "in the next few days". Not sure if that's just the standard order received message or if it really will be on the way in a few days (which would be great).

M3 LR AWD, white with black interior, 18" wheels

I ordered a M3 LR AWD MSM black inter, 18" wheels on 8/24

No text about exiting the factory. FML

I placed my order online yesterday 9/16 for M3 LR AWD White/Black with 18" Aero. My SA told me the white is taking longer to get since it's free. I called him after placing my order & told him I would also take a black or red if they had anything in inventory. He said right now they didn't have anything. I was hoping for an upgrade. Does this mean I won't get an upgrade or is it possible that something could come in before end of month? Also home delivery is no longer an option. I either have to pick up in SF or Fremont. My SA said he will try & see if he can get it delivered to the showroom/SC since I live 2 miles from them. I'm so excited!!!! (insert happy dance):D

UPDATE: SO HAPPY!

Called my SA today to check on the status of my 08/23 order LR AWD MSM/Black AP 18" Areo. He said California wouldn't be getting a shipment of vehicles until 09/24 and it's going to be MASSIVE shipment. He then placed me on hold and came back with the "Stealth" Model P3D—(Might not be correct abbreviation) was mysteriously in-stock as he just checked yesterday and saw nothing. He matched me immediately and gave me a $2,500/off for paint/wheels + (2)year SC. So I just got a P3D for 1k more, WOOT!!

Data Points:
Original Order: 08/23 LR AWD MSM/Black AP 18" Aero - Delivery Date Unknown!
Matched Order: 09/16 LR AWD Performance MSM/Black AP 19" Sport Wheels - Delivery Date 09/20 (WOOT)
VIN: 5YJxxx (not sure what's safe to put here)

Questions: Please attach/point me in the right direction I apologize!
1. Can I swap out the 19" wheels for 18" wheels?

If you're in Nor Cal I'll swap with you when my M3 comes in ;)

Where in the Bay Area are you? I ordered in Dublin but picked up at Fremont delivery center (sadly, it's not the factory) on Fremont Blvd. Kinda fun since there had to be like 60 cars there all ready for pickup. Also, recommend you keep an eye out for inventory cars on Tesla.com...they are posting new cars daily (I would check every hour or so) and you can get matched to one if it shows up. A long range in Burlingame is available (black with white interior) this morning.

I'm in Millbrae and Burlingame is less than 2 miles from me. I would jump on the black except I'm afraid of the white interior lol. But thanks for the info, I'll keep checking online.

How long did it take for you get that confirmed (I stress confirmed) in your order details?

I say that because we've been told elsewhere across different threads that it's one or the other: 2 free years of SC or up to 2 discounted upgrades, but not both.

I also have a similar situation and the discounts don't show up on my order yet.

Confirmed discount showed this morning and I just made my final payment.

Update 9/17/2019

  • 9/7 - Order placed on website (LR AWD, White/black, aero, no FSD) and got the usual emails from sales rep and delivery specialist
  • 9/9 - Went shopping for auto financing (837 credit score, Six figure income, etc)
    • TechCU - REJECTED (even though I am current customer, WTF) - will send me reason for rejection through mail
    • Lightstream - REJECTED - no reason given
    • Texall - approved for 4.49%
    • Alliant - approved for 4.49%
    • Andrews Federal Credit Union - approved for 3.99% (with GAP insurance)
  • 9/10 - spoke with all the approved credit unions and will be moving forward with Andrews. Super nice, very responsive and easy to work with
  • 9/11 - Submitted paystubs, insurance, drivers license and standard stuff to Andrews
  • 9/12 - On Tesla website I put I will be financing through Andrews
    • Two minutes after I hit submit, I get a text to schedule delivery for 9/24
    • VIN has been assigned (checked through the View Source method)
  • 9/13 - MVPA Recieved - submitted everything to credit union
  • 9/14 - SA confirms 2K Supercharging applied to account
  • 9/15 - Reached out to SA about 2 year supercharging, says this shouldn't be a problem and will get approval from her manager
  • 9/16 - Signed final paperwork with credit union, they cut a check and provided tracking number and photo, I emailed it to delivery specialist. Still on track for 9/24 delivery but could arrive even sooner!
  • 9/17 - Local delivery team emailed me saying all they are waiting on are the temp tags. Once that arrives I can sign for and pick up my car!

Keep watching. Several new awds popped in the Seattle inventory around noon today. red, blue & white were taken quickly, black is still there.

So I tried calling Tesla customer service to check on the status of my order. Im just hitting the 3 week mark since I ordered and I’ve heard nothing at all. Not even a text.

I called and tried to talk to any rep. Every time I tell them where I live It forwards to me to voice mailbox that’s full and disconnects the call immediately. I’m pretty impressed how terrible this service is. I can’t even talk to a real person. While they make interest on my money down for 3 weeks without any information. I live California too.

How is this better than buying a car from a dealership? At least I could talk to someone at one.

So I’m going to stop by a Tesla store I guess and see if anyone can help me. I would be totally fine with all this if they just let me know what’s going on.

What you're experiencing is no different than the rest of us. I ordered 8/3 and picked up my car on 9/14. I went to the sales location in Dublin CA every weekend to take cars out for a test drive. I also checked the Tesla website almost hourly to see if any inventory cars popped up that I could assign to my order. And I checked my account daily to see if a VIN was assigned. I'm pretty impatient and the waiting game was painful. That said, it was all worth it to see my car on Saturday at the delivery center. It was beautiful. Hang in there!!

Huh...is this a coincidence or are they related at all? Since I ordered with the wheel/interior discounts my sales rep told me to wait until the VIN is generated before entering any payment info or securing financing because the price currently on the order page isn't accurate of the actual final price. I just want to make sure I'm not holding off on a step that's preventing my order from going through.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I think getting finance approved advances the order, but I could be wrong.
