LR AWD Waiting Room

.. sales rep told me to wait until the VIN is generated before entering any payment info or securing financing because the price currently on the order page isn't accurate of the actual final price. I just want to make sure I'm not holding off on a step that's preventing my order from going through.

Same boat here. Got to that step, he originally said to fill it out but I explained I don't know that info yet since I haven't applied and he said oh yeah, wait until we get the VIN. Not sure if I should move forward with it anyway..

UPDATE: SO HAPPY!

Called my SA today to check on the status of my 08/23 order LR AWD MSM/Black AP 18" Areo. He said California wouldn't be getting a shipment of vehicles until 09/24 and it's going to be MASSIVE shipment. He then placed me on hold and came back with the "Stealth" Model P3D—(Might not be correct abbreviation) was mysteriously in-stock as he just checked yesterday and saw nothing. He matched me immediately and gave me a $2,500/off for paint/wheels + (2)year SC. So I just got a P3D for 1k more, WOOT!!

Data Points:
Original Order: 08/23 LR AWD MSM/Black AP 18" Aero - Delivery Date Unknown!
Matched Order: 09/16 LR AWD Performance MSM/Black AP 19" Sport Wheels - Delivery Date 09/20 (WOOT)
VIN: 5YJxxx (not sure what's safe to put here)

Questions: Please attach/point me in the right direction I apologize!
1. Can I swap out the 19" wheels for 18" wheels?

I have asked this question at local Tesla showroom. The answer I got is that if you have a Model 3 OTHER than performance, the answer is yes. The wheel well and suspensions are exactly the same for the trims with different wheel size. If you have a performance version, the answer is no because the suspension and wheel well are tuned to 19 inch to handle higher speed.

Ordered 8/28 AWD LR white aero wheels with blk interior. Received text to schedule delivery on 9/13. Picked it up 9/16. Build date 9/19. Vin showed on my account late 9/13.
I’m super detail oriented so the lack of communication was killing me.
It’s funny once you take possession all of the hostility is gone.
In a nutshell mine arrived 2 1/2 weeks sooner than my sales person anticipated.

If I just placed my order on 9/16 for a M3 AWD white/black, what are my chances of getting my car by 9/30?
I see some people have been waiting almost a month and still haven't received theirs. I also keep checking my local inventory but no luck yet.

Keep searching inventory -- I was waiting for 3.5 weeks and found a car in inventory that matched me, grabbed it and took delivery in two days. Just had to cancel my old order.

Newbie here. What do you mean by vin in "source code"?

Tons of mentions here but in general, type control-u (in Chrome) or right click to get to the source code of your manage page. Once there search for "5YJ" to see if a VIN has been assigned to you.

9/16 - Finally go my car. The delivery process is pretty much straight forward. The appointment was at 5:30pm and I reached 30mins late (and immediately apologized). The delivery advisor provided a good enough walk-thru of how the beast works. I don't remember receiving any paperwork while driving out of the dealership. As for the purchase agreement, there is a copy in my tesla account. They did mention that the registration will take from 4 to 6 weeks and I will get that in the mail from DMV. Let me know if there was anything else I was supposed to pick up. It was a hectic day but I did not want to push the delivery date any further. Also, there was a minor gap on the right side of the front trunk. I noticed it but none in my family noticed until I called out. The delivery advisor took photos (and created a case in their system under my VIN#)) of this and advised that it can be fixed easily. I have scheduled an appointment from the app (already LOL). I am guessing that it'll be taken care of quickly (without any hiccups)
Coming to the driving experience: For me, it was a big switch from ICE to Electric. 1st, there is no engine sound/noise. Which is weird as hell. I guess that'll take some time to get used to. The car is very smooth and the acceleration is just instantaneous. The steering is probably one of the best ones I have experienced so far. As for the controls and features, I am on the learning curve and there is quite a lot to learn!
By the way, the car was shinin' new when I drove out of the delivery center and in 10mins, we hit a thunderstorm, a nasty one. The car was exactly opposite when I parked in the garage that night ;) It was a "happening" first day of our "white noise" :p

I'm stoked. Will be picking up my car this weekend. Just a really great experience thus far.
Super supportive thus far. Having my Wall set placed before picking up the car.
The move is so quick that I'm having to set up detailing for my current car to sell it.
By the way I actually called Tesla and someone picked up and spoke to me, unlike many on this
board. Again, so far a great experience.

Elon's ears must've been ringing.

VIN popped up in Source Code this morning

My wait is FINALLY over. Picked up the car today and could not be happier

Timeline:
8/24 Order placed in Walnut Creek Store for Model 3, MSM, 18 Aero, No FSD
9/7-9/15: Checked in every few days with my SA regarding delivery since no car at 2 weeks. He mentioned I was slotted to have a VIN assigned on 9/17
9/17: Woke up, checked source code and saw a VIN. Did not receive a text from anyone. Emailed my SA and mentioned I was doing the Tesla Factory Tour on 9/18 and requested to take delivery the same morning. He was able to accommodate my request
9/18: Picked up my Model 3 at the Fremont Delivery Hub. Took less than 10 minutes to complete papers. Drove immediately over to the Tesla Factory and took the tour.

As a side note, highly recommend the Tesla Factory Owners Tour for anyone who can make it. It's free and is about an hour long. Amazing to see what all of our machines start off as. Felt like a kid in a candy store.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

LR AWD white with black interior + aeros
Ordered 9/8/19
Asked around about swapping/upgrades/2yrSC during the wait, but got the run around. Still may get 2yr SC, but not holding my breath.
9/18/19: Received text stating my car was on the way to Rocklin, CA (500mi away from me!). Correction text sent within 30 mins of that text. Tried the 'source code' lookup, but I suck at that stuff, so wasn't sure. Haha.
9/19/19: VIN assigned on the "manage" page, received text to schedule delivery appt, all while the electrician was installing my NEMA 14-50 outlet. What a morning!
9/21/19: Delivery appt scheduled! Driving my in-laws beater minivan, so I'm dying right now. Will kill some time setting up the Sentry cam usb and other stuff. Cant wait.

Update 9/19/2019

  • 9/7 - Order placed on website (LR AWD, White/black, aero, no FSD) and got the usual emails from sales rep and delivery specialist
  • 9/9 - Went shopping for auto financing (837 credit score, Six figure income, etc)
    • TechCU - REJECTED (even though I am current customer, WTF) - will send me reason for rejection through mail
    • Lightstream - REJECTED - no reason given
    • Texall - approved for 4.49%
    • Alliant - approved for 4.49%
    • Andrews Federal Credit Union - approved for 3.99% (with GAP insurance)
  • 9/10 - spoke with all the approved credit unions and will be moving forward with Andrews. Super nice, very responsive and easy to work with
  • 9/11 - Submitted paystubs, insurance, drivers license and standard stuff to Andrews
  • 9/12 - On Tesla website I put I will be financing through Andrews
    • Two minutes after I hit submit, I get a text to schedule delivery for 9/24
    • VIN has been assigned (checked through the View Source method)
  • 9/13 - MVPA Recieved - submitted everything to credit union
  • 9/14 - SA confirms 2K Supercharging applied to account
  • 9/15 - Reached out to SA about 2 year supercharging, says this shouldn't be a problem and will get approval from her manager
  • 9/16 - Signed final paperwork with credit union, they cut a check and provided tracking number and photo, I emailed it to delivery specialist. Still on track for 9/24 delivery but could arrive even sooner!
  • 9/17 - Local delivery team emailed me saying all they are waiting on are the temp tags. Once that arrives I can sign for and pick up my car!
  • 9/19 - Temporary tags have arrived like 10 minutes ago. Service center said I might be able to pick up my car tonight after detailing is done. Weather has been on and off raining here in Austin so it might be till tomorrow. Delivery specialist said I COULD pick it up right now if I wanted to but strongly recommends that they let them wax the car and do the job right. I agree.
The whole process from start to finish (if counting business days only) has taken 9-10 business days!

I just got the price for my trade-in and I'm pretty bummed out.
My Hyundai dealer offered me 19K for my car and Tesla's offer is 13.5K.

I would love to sell the car and have the amount I wanted, but it is financed... so trade-in is all I have.
I have mentionned my sales person I was disappointed of the price and he replied "we are not a dealer, we work with wholesale."

I ordered this car because I know I would be very happy with it, but this trade-in price pretty much blew my hype away.
I'm a few days from delivery. Considering cancelling.

Try Carvana. They gave me $2K more than Tesla. And they came to pick up the car.
