If an OEM could supply a glider. Then have someone such as Saleen or Roush(there are others) install the powertrain.

Glider + battery,motor,controller,charger = Roadster!

Question is; what chassis would be worthy and make a good candidate?

There's a lot more than taking a car and sticking a powertrain in it. You need to set up the cooling, traction control, ABS, etc.
Tesla had the powertrain nailed down in 2006, but it took them two more years to finish everything else for the final product.

there's lots of small companies that will convert an ICE to an EV. They're not too expensive, north of $25k-ish maybe.

the problem is, they're not very good. Range is not quite there, performance is not quite there. So at the end, it's not quite worth it now that there's a number of EV's available. It was a fine option before Tesla/Leaf showed up.

Lithium ion battery is a big deal. They're a bit finicky, lots of research goes into those (ask Boeing and their battery fires on 787).
