Metal rod appearing out of the wheel well

Hello Everyone, Have a question. I have a 2018 model S with about 22k miles. I was driving about 5MPH making a turn. Then we heard a loud sound from the passenger side front area. After some inspection I saw a metal rod protruding from behind the wheel well (about 12 inches long). I took a close look at it. It didn't look like it was welded on anything. It was easy to take out. Should I be concerned? Was this placed there? I scheduled mobile service in case.
