Mobile app slow for Model 3?

I had an S before my 3. When I opened the iOS Tesla mobile app, it connected to the car almost immediately.

With my 3, it spins in 'waking up' mode for a long time (it varies, but never less than 15-20 seconds). Is this everyone else's experience?

Yup. Sometimes more than 30 seconds!

And today I lost authentication with the phone key too. In short of deleting it from the car I can’t get my phone connected to the car via Blue tooth

Yes, I switch back and forth in the app between my S and 3 -- and the 3 takes a long time to wake the car, whereas the S is pretty much instant.

Was your S an MCU1? The MCU2 (and the 3) don’t have the energy saving switches and I believe automatically go to sleep. Could be the issue?

Yes, the Model 3 tries to save some energy by putting systems to sleep. It help decrease the phantom power drains dramatically.

The Model 3 does take a while to wake up and connect to the app. I'm okay with this if it reduces phantom drain.

When that happens, I turn off wifi and just use LTE. Seems to work a lot faster that way. No idea why. I'm sure it's related to my wifi or router or phone or something. The Tesla app isn't the only app that behaves that way for me.

Have you tried opening a bug (from the car)? Apparently you can now do that via the voice controls.
