My advice: If you might sell the car in the next 4 years then don't get FSD. I will keep the car 5+ years so I bought FSD for the following reasons:
- $3K is a bargain compared to the $5K+ that others will pay. For example, dual motor cost went from $4K to $6K in the last few months!
- Elon tweeted that people with FSD will get a hardware upgrade to the new Tesla chip.
- I financed the $3K cost over 5 years at 2.39% by including it in the purchase price. When added later you won't be able to do that.
- I think a useful FSD feature will be released in the next 6 months to encourage people to buy it more often (just my feeling).
