Model S Dog Cover for Cargo Area

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
I think this has been posted before, but I bought a custom dog cover for the cargo area for my Model S made by a woman named Roseanne Chamberlain. You can get a lower cost option on Amazon, but I just wanted to say how happy I am with this product. It is custom cut, and the material is really durable, but with some padding. Took our English Retriever out for the first ride today and it went really well. I found Roseanne on an older post from somebody else who was happy with her work. If you are in the market for a cover to transport your dog, I’d recommend taking a look at this.

This is what we have. We also have the Tesla Weathertech rear mat over the top of it as we haul snowy wet items. The only thing I don't like about it is that the bumper flap + dog using it has scratched the rear bumper; surely when the bumper is dirty; like most of the time. I've had other flaps not do this that were more rigid. This one slips side to side easily. So we don't use the flap and pretty much lift the lazy bastard in and out now. #lessonlearned

Another alternative if you don't have rear seat passengers is to take out the rear cushion and make a padded platform in the back. It's like a big bed and no holes for paws to slip into. Keeps your trunk open for cargo also.
I did this for our really long road trip that we're in the middle of and it's been perfect
I can take some pics if anyone is interested. It was pretty easy to make

Pictures please. Always looking for better options to transport our baby,

I purchased this waterproof car "hammock" for pets. It's meant for dogs -- a pet I don't actually own -- but I knew it'd be a great mat of sorts if ever I needed to lay something wet or dirty in my car; and if not I could use it on the ground when traveling (for a picnic or whatever, etc.). I'd presume it would work also in the rear cargo area (I don't yet own a Tesla myself at the moment). Here's the link and a photo -- oh, and all of $18,

The official name to Google/Amazon (if the link fails) is:
AmazonBasics Waterproof Hammock Seat Cover for Pets

Finally got a chance to snap some pics. They aren't the best but should give you the idea. One modification I need to do is do cut outs for seatbelt locations for the odd chance I need to put a passenger in the back for a short ride sitting indian style.
You will see in one of the pictures I made an extension for the emergency mechanical door release and looped it around the passenger seatbelt, just in case. It was a last minute addition before the trip, I'll beef it up a bit more instead of using zip ties.

Bed with both driver and passenger seats moved forward, at regular position they go back right up to the platform:
