What Happened: The vehicle controller might not detect low brake fluid, and it will not display a warning light, the company said in a filing with the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). As a result of the lack of warning, the vehicle may continue to be driven with reduced braking performance, increasing the risk of an accident.
However, the company is unaware of any injuries related to the issue as of Oct. 10, NHTSA said.
The Fix: The company will fix the issue with an over-the-air update free of any cost to the customer. Owners only need to install the update and not visit a service center.
“For vehicles operating FSD Beta software releases, the above remedy will be included in an upcoming regularly scheduled FSD Beta software release,” the auto regulator added.
