Model X paint quality - rock chips

The swooping hood and bumper make up over 95% of the exposed fascia that will take chips. If you ppf the hood and bumper with a 9-10 mil film your probability of getting any is decreased tenfold so you can probably expect none over many thousand miles.

I have not found the new ultra red to be more resistant despite the advertised multiplie layers. I picked up a small hood chip maybe 2mm, barely 1500 miles in and it took all layers. Maybe bad luck but that swoop doesn’t help.

My 2020 has some road chips on the hood and I would say also rear quarters down below where the fwd open. The hood I would say 97% are front 1/4 of the hood. Non on the nose where your license plate would go.
