1. Vertically tied to the back of rear seats, blocks rear view mirror
2. Can't be placed on the side, there is no support.
2. Placing it horizontally makes it little harder to access the sub-trunk.
Keeping it tilted has advantages, no more blocking the rear view and easier access to sub-trunk.
Tether anchor in the middle is placed higher than the side tether anchors, it is possible to keep it tilted & secured with rope or straps.
We do not plan to carry it all the time, only on occasional long trips. A simple small wooden rack that can hold it in the same tilt position would be an ideal fit, it must also support the actual much wider wheel/tire, maybe next time.
