The wood was a minor but real selling point for me.

Personally, I prefer to save the wood for the bedroom, and CF for car interiors.
But to each his own.

If you don’t like your dash accent then remove if carefully and send to me so I can try different stains.

You can't really remove the wood veneer.
However, for those who want something different, there are tons of vendors offering interior vinyl skins of different patterns and colors. They are pretty inexpensive, so you can try different looks if not certain what you prefer:

My car is only 10 months old and the wood veneer has already started splitting. We have really harsh summer sun here in Queensland. I’m going to start looking for replacements.
