Nio Inc.'s U.S. chief executive, Padmasree Warrior, is stepping down from the newly public electric carmaker after three years at the helm.

The company will not replace Warrior in the CEO role for its North American headquarters, a company spokesperson told the Silicon Valley Business Journal. Instead, Nio's U.S. operations will be managed by the company's global chief information officer and head of digital operations, Ganesh Iyer, who is based in San Jose and will keep his current title. Iyer joined Nio in May 2016 from Tesla Inc. “We are working to make sure the transition is smooth,” the spokesperson said.
