Anti-smog agencies offer $20 million for Inland warehouses to dump diesel trucks

Warehouses and massive distribution centers built in the Inland Empire are a double-edged sword: They bring economic development and jobs along with diesel trucks that contribute to lung-damaging air pollution.

Two anti-smog agencies on Friday, Nov. 6, unleashed incentives totaling $20 million to entice existing warehouses, from Amazon to Walmart to smaller operators, to swap out diesel-burning delivery trucks and off-road cargo-movement equipment with zero-emission or near-zero emission vehicles.

Bull**** article. Modern trucks do not emit smog, in fact no trucks that are legal on California roads emit smog.

I work in the industry, and 10 years ago we had trucks that would emit so much that if left running in the shop it would be damn near impossible to breath inside in about 30 minutes. Now we can idle all 10 bays and the shop will have less pollution inside than the 1 pre emissions truck.

Tesla trucks seem like a great thing for short haul, no need for BS.

Smog is the stuff that comes mainly out of the tailpipe of ICE vehicles. So, if there is anything coming out of the tailpipes of your trucks it is smog. So, yes these truck, no matter how 'clean' their exhaust is, they produce some smog.

Your statement is about half right. What comes out of tailpipes or exhaust stacks of ICE vehicles are chemicals that are precursors to photochemical smog, reacting in the presence of sunlight to produce ozone and other smog compounds.

Try google search: diesel exhaust pollution

small particles (soot) cause a lot of problems - especially for kids - you can read about the other problems from above search.

LA could try one week end with no diesels - see what happens. Stop all diesels other side of the Grapevine & Mexico border ??
