P3D with Performance Upgrade and Black Interior status

I was just poking around with the spreadsheet. Noticed a few things about the colors. These are, of course, all P3D+ with black seats:

Blue: no VINs or scheduled deliveries
Midnight Silver: 2-630xx, 1-729xx, 1-730xx. Deliveries scheduled from 9/5-9/22 by distance from CA
Obsidian Black: No VINs or schedule deliveries
White: 2-726xx, 1-633xx, 1-?, Deliveries from 8/24-9/1
Red: 5-632xx, Deliveries from 8/26-9/8, again favoring west coast
Silver: 1-?, Delivery on 9/8
Black: 2-724xx, 1-725xx, Deliveries 8/28-9/19, west to east

So, there's some consistency among VINs -- they seem to be assigned by color, backing up the theory that they're batching by interior color then exterior color. The VIN dates, however, are all over the place.

I actually do have a VIN for a DBM P3D+ with black interior. I got it from the customer support line, but I never wrote it down, either 72xxx or 73xxx. I’m waiting for the “official” e-mail/call from the delivery specialist to update the tracker. Was told I should get something by today, but I’ll wait until Friday to ask about it.

I put cash/no trade-in and my page is the same as it’s always been. Do people without a loan/trade-in not get their page “opened up” in case I wanted to do either or am I still a step behind others?

Wow, actual useful information from the support line? I've called three times in the last two months, and no one on the other end has ever known anything more than I could see on my own web page.

Well I got my 59xxx VIN today for my P3D-. I previously had VIN 58966

They're definitely batching the colors to VINs.
Assigned 8/22 - 5920x for my P-AWD
Assigned 7/26 - 58966 for my RWD
Another guy I was talking to had 589xx also for a Blue RWD model.

Did they call you or email you with the vin? Picking up at Costa Mesa? What was the area code from their call? I called customer support line but they told me nothing new ..

I am surprised they do home delivery in the Bay Area. Was that an option on the delivery selection or did you request it separately? I just picked Fremont, thinking that would be the easiest for them to do ( so hopefully quickest). I have the same config as you on order but later in July.

It was the default for me. Agreed, does not seem very efficient.

Noticed the progress because, like so many others, I'm checking the website seemingly constantly

Tue 8/20 App approved Tuesday evening, 8/20 (could've been sooner, didn't see email, didn't check website "that often" yesterday)

for those interested: ~25% down, no trade-in (daughter showed up, grabbed the Prius I planned to trade), 3.49% interest rate​

Now awaiting delivery date & VIN

Delivery in Washington, DC - different geo than where I originally reserved

Nina (a very nice lady) from the Costa Mesa the delivery center called me (714 code). She had the information. Regarding the VIN part, it still does not show up on the Tesla site.

I believe they changed the process of giving you a VIN in case there is a problem during the delivery setup and they need to change vehicles it would be transparent to you but we still ask for ours anyways

Seems like they're distributing a certain amount of each config to each region and filling it with local orders. For example, I am not a reservation holder, & ordered the same config 5 days after you.

So... My situation update

I drove a MSM 3P+ today. I won't go into many details...I feel like the online reviews have said it best. Suffice it to say, the car is an absolute BLAST to drive. My last 3 cars for comparison:

Audi RS5
Dodge charger hellcat
Merc AMG C63S

Needless to say, I like fast cars. This is gonna be as much fun to drive as those. The acceleration and handling is spot on and so much fun. Punching the accelerator at 40mph is stupid fun. All three of my previous cars had beautiful and different exhaust notes. I'm really gonna miss that... Otherwise, nothing else.

I asked them to look into my order and nothing. It's still sitting out in space. No Vin or anything. No progress. (June 27 config of you're curious)

So it's good news (great car) and bad news (still not any closer to getting mine)

Let the wait continue

I think you are preaching to the choir here lol. All of us in this thread are waiting for delivery on our P3D orders I do at times miss the exhaust note on my R8 V10 w/ Capristo Exhaust (especially the bark on startup), but there is no turning back once you go EV.

Joining your Thread...Moving over from AWD Thread. 4/1/16 reservation.. Ordered AWD 6/27/18..Added EAP 6/29/18 (Sept - Nov) ..Upgraded to Performance 8/20 (Oct-Dec).

We'll see how helpful my reserving within the first 24 hours in 2016 is on moving my car along. Will likely be my last car.. Time to start taking care of dad!
