This sometimes persists ~5 minutes into a drive for me, which is quite strange. I would imagine the car would ping towers more aggressively and frequently after someone's stepped in it and started driving.

Happens somewhat regularly for me. I have a P85D loaner right now and it's done it once too.

Yes, it gets loaded after the fact. Tesla did not load Autopilot or FSD software on my car, despite being part of my order from day 1. I was told I will receive an OTA update in the next day or two.

I took delivery on Friday & have driven over 500 miles. The car is a blast, despite 3 canceled deliveries, my incoming windshield replacement (due to overspray), a misaligned door, and the car not having autopilot despite paying for it (remote software software update should land tomorrow)...

That's the hope. Since second delivery was canceled for a third delivery only a day later, I sent a polite **** off email and got slotted in for my fourth scheduled delivery the same day as the second. Gotta just be firm sometimes.

Trick me twice.... Now onto delivery date 3. Only one canceled vacation later!

Was scheduled for delivery in Fremont on Sunday. Got an email Sunday evening, now VIN has been removed and my account seems back to square one (excepting finance information). Delivery advisor is leaving me hanging. Sweet...

Delivery delayed for me (no date). Logistics is hard, even within Fremont apparently.

I don't think it's random, seems pretty compartmentalized by region to me, maybe based off order projections (at least initially). I.e. Tesla allocates a certain amount of each config to a region, and they sit around until sold. I didn't have a reservation at all.

Anyone being pushed into home delivery should ask about picking up at a service center. My date got bumped up 4 days by doing this.

Seems like they're distributing a certain amount of each config to each region and filling it with local orders. For example, I am not a reservation holder, & ordered the same config 5 days after you.

It was the default for me. Agreed, does not seem very efficient.
