Any ideas what’s the cause of this? 2021 Model Y long range

Hard to say. How old is your car? Looks like some substance was on it. Was it parked to a heater or something very hot? I would take it to a Service center.

2021. When outside it can’t be seen but only felt. Happened to open garage during day and was sitting next to it and noticed.

Forgot to mention purchase used. Smh like I said can only be seen in certain light/angles. Will attempt to get it buffed out or spot repainted.

Do you know if it's been resprayed? A defect like that would never have passed QC and is not really possible with robot painting. It looks like something laid on or leaned on the paint like if it was resprayed. I don't know if that can be cut down, the highs and lows look pretty great visually.

Yeah seems like it was repainted. Didn’t catch that when purchased. Autobody shops through pictures say maybe possibly to buff out if not been quoted for spot repaint between $400-$900. Might leave it be for now since it’s not noticeable other than this exact light shade.

I would keep it as is, looks like some pretty cool stretch marks.
