Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

And they maintain their dominance now by giving away their OS for free, so nutty. It's like a reach around.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Dude shut up. The Fed's called MS a monopoly and almost split them until Gates made deals. And for that, AND for bringing me out of hibernation, a ban. A lesson for all.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's hard to even comprehend calling Tesla a monopoly when their patents are wide open. They are driving adoption, it's not their fault that that legacies ignored reality for so long and now they are behind because of their foolishness. Hell we still have Toyota's CEO spouting nonsense about EVs...

    PPF is no joke

It's warrantied by the PPF brand, they usually come with 5 to 10 years. Story, way back a cube truck ran into the wifes Tribeca and it was repaired obviously. But the car had PPF and the insurer was going to pay for it. I went back to my installer to get it going and he mentioned that its...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Microsoft is a monopoly at 76% of desktop OS market share. And nothing happens. They did in the past flex their muscles on competitors and have been penalized for it yet, they still own the market.

    Is AWD worth it?

It cannot mimic all setups like 4WD for instance. 4WD means both left and right wheels are geared or locked together. You can't do that with an EV AWD's open diff or viscous diff. You'd need a locking diff. The AWD in an EV is actually surprisingly simple, open diffs using brakes for TC. And by...

    Going from a GV80 Genesis......

Just try it. And its an advantage for you to have something to compare against.
  12. thesmokingman

    Is AWD worth it?

Wrong they are not marketing names but specifically denote difference in the way power is transferred. 4WD is when left and right halves are geared together. AWD is the opposite of this. And Tesla's AWD is NOT unique, it's a result of having two motors which is normal on dual motor EVs.

Mountain pass performance coil overs - do I need a lift kit?

Stock height go Ohlins. That's the beauty of a dual height adjustable body!

    Model Y comfort suspension?

Hmm, it's pretty easy to tell. The og dampers were very stiff thru the use of high degree of low speed bump. That meant only the biggest of bumps/dips would create a big enough load for the dampers to compress. This translated to very bad behavior over rough roads. PPL often mistook that for bad...

The sad part is that they weren't even inventing a new battery tech, like say solid state or something which I'd understand as being hard hard. They just failed to turn a profit.

    Model Y comfort suspension?

Nice. The last time I checked part number was last month and E was the lastest for MYP. You've got F now so that seems pretty current to me. Thhough there is some speculation the MYP is now running the same dampers as LR ie. DUAL MOTOR.

Clear Coat on RPMTesla Spoiler Flaking After 15 Months?

You don't have to remove it to re-clear it, fyi. Tape off well, light sand, clean, and spray.
  20. thesmokingman

    Is AWD worth it?

Not really as Tesla's AWD is predominately RWD until slip and on launches where it uses the front motor. With a LR/P model, you'll eat thru rear tires 2x to the fronts.

  25. thesmokingman

If the Model Y was considered an SUV, would Tesla have dropped the price so much?

Legacies lead at what they think they will probably do in the future. And that's why they will fail cuz they don't appreciate how hard it actually is.
  26. thesmokingman

    Is AWD worth it?

Tesla's traction control is pretty great, so RWD or AWD you're set.

If the Model Y was considered an SUV, would Tesla have dropped the price so much?

In the US big auto is already supported by an alarmingly large oil subsidy. Talk about backstops in place to keep them from going under and yet they still manage to do it. How many Lyrics did GM produce in 2022? 36 iirc, yea that is the what leading the revolution looks like!

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's not a hot topic cuz like 5 guys do it, hyperbole sure but closer to reality than the above portrays it. If we think like this, let's pause the global transition to clean till we can appeal a huge minority. Right that totally makes sense, lol.

Redwood Ohlins coilovers vs KW Variant 3 coilovers

If you like riding at stock height the Ohlins is the only choice due to it's dual height adjustable bodies which can raise /lower w/o affecting stroke to a certain point. A single height adjustable shock like the KW/MPP will lose all its stroke when raised to the max. However the flipside is...
