Yes, if you have to get out then Free Roll is the way to go. I don't know if there are any exceptions to the rule that it will go from Neutral to Park if the driver exits, but it makes sense for safety to have that happen every time.

Change to my last answer, sorry: last time I used Free Roll, I noticed this message: "Automatic shift to Park upon exit disabled". If you stay in the car then of course it doesn't matter if you're in Neutral or Free Roll.

Yes internet forums are usually skewed towards complaints, with the exception of enthusiast threads focused on photos, accessories, and customization. Also I think MB owners are particularly demanding. Still, I'm amazed at how similar those complaints are to what we see here on TMC.

Poorly written article, probably based on a poor translation. They are requiring an alert when people stomp on the accelerator pedal real hard, because sometimes when people do that they've mistaken the accelerator for the brake pedal. The "recall" also requires an option to turn off regen braking.
