Performance model and RED brake calipers

So I have noticed my friends 2013 P85 has two RED brake calipers on the rear wheels.
Mine is the same model, but I have one RED and one black.

Why is it that way.?

Older versions of the Model S had a separate parking brake caliper.

If his parking brakes are red someone painted them, or there is a red cover on them.
(These are not mine; I prefer the parking brake factory colour grey)

I thought Performance model S still does? They shrunk the non-P calipers to a version wit integrated parking brake.

Red performance brakes don't paint the parking caliper, if it's red they had it painted.

Ya as mentioned above. Looks like they painted it. IMO it looks much cleaner having both red.

Tesla's red caliper option never has the parking brake colored from the factory. ^ As Chaserr said, if the parking brake is red, someone painted it aftermarket.

At some point you could downgrade the red calipers to the grey ones with additional charge when ordering a P model. As far as I understand this was an active selection item (since red calipers were standard for the P models).
My P85+ from 2013 also has the grey calipers, so the original owner must have made an active choice against the red ones when configuring the car.

The early P85+ cars had gray from the factory. Like mine.
